The Customer:
A Leading Cybersecirty Partner provide managed services to protect critical industries in Saudi Arabia, as well as the Middle East and North Africa regions. They understand the current cyber threats and regulatory requirements, and work to secure their clients’ IT infrastructure and operations.
The Challenge:
The customer, A leading Cybersecirty Partner, was looking for a solution to secure the information technology infrastructure and operations for their clients, particularly in the critical industries, such as energy, across Saudi Arabia and the Middle East and North Africa regions. They initially planned to implement a hybrid model, where critical workloads would be on-prem and sandboxing from AWS. However, they faced several challenges with this approach:
Delays in hardware delivery: The customer faced delays in receiving hardware from various vendors, such as DellEMC, CISCO, HP Auba, etc. This caused delays in the deployment of their on-prem solution.
Compliance requirements: The customers, especially in the energy sector, required that complete data be kept on-prem as per National Cybersecurity Authority (NCA) compliance regulations in Saudi Arabia. This added complexity to the deployment and the need for a dynamic solution that could be implemented quickly.
Integration and security: The customer was looking for a solution that could be easily integrated with their existing infrastructure and offer added security features, such as microsegmentation, to secure their clients’ data.
To address these challenges, Leading Cybersecirty Partner turned to Oracle Cloud’s VMware on Oracle Cloud (OCVS) solution. This solution offered compliance with NCA regulations, the ability to easily integrate with existing Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, and added security from VMware’s NSX-T technology. Additionally, the datacenters were located within the Kingdom (Jeddah), which was a key factor in proposing the solution to the customer
The Solution:
The solution that Leading Cybersecirty Partner chose to address the challenges they faced in implementing their initial hybrid model is Oracle Cloud’s VMware on Oracle Cloud (OCVS).
The OCVS solution is a fully managed, cloud-based platform that allows customers to run their VMware workloads on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) with familiar tools and processes.
One of the key benefits of this solution is that it is compliant with the National Cybersecurity Authority (NCA) regulations in Saudi Arabia, as the datacenters are located within the Kingdom (Jeddah). This allows Leading Cybersecirty Partner to meet the requirements of their customers, particularly in the energy sector, to have complete data on-prem.
Another benefit of the OCVS solution is that it can be easily integrated with Leading Cybersecirty Partner’ existing Oracle Cloud Infrastructure for their cybersecurity operations, thus reducing the complexity of the deployment and allowing Leading Cybersecirty Partner to scale their services quickly as they add more customers.
Additionally, OCVS solution provides an added layer of security with VMware’s NSX-T technology, which enables microsegmentation, which is a technique to divide a physical network into multiple virtual networks, each with its own security and policies. This helps in securing the client’s data and infrastructure.
In summary, Oracle Cloud’s VMware on Oracle Cloud (OCVS) solution is a fully managed, cloud-based platform that allows Leading Cybersecirty Partner to run their VMware workloads on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) with familiar tools and processes, it is compliant with the National Cybersecurity Authority (NCA) regulations in Saudi Arabia, it can be easily integrated with Leading Cybersecirty Partner’ existing Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, and it offers an added layer of security with VMware’s NSX-T technology.
Oracle Cloud VMware Solution (OCVS) is a fully managed, cloud-based platform that allows customers to run their VMware workloads on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) with familiar tools and processes. OCVS is a Software as a Service (SaaS) offering that provides a complete VMware stack, including vSphere, vCenter, vSAN, and NSX-T, in a fully-managed environment. This allows customers to lift and shift their VMware-based workloads to the Oracle Cloud with minimal changes and with no additional costs for the underlying infrastructure.
One of the key benefits of OCVS is that it provides an easy migration path for customers who are already running VMware-based workloads on-premises. It allows customers to run their VMware workloads in a fully-managed cloud environment with minimal changes to their existing tools, processes, and workflows.
OCVS also provides customers with a range of benefits such as:
- High availability and disaster recovery: OCVS provides built-in high availability and disaster recovery capabilities, so customers can ensure their workloads are always running and
- Flexible scaling: OCVS allows customers to scale their resources up or down as their workloads change, with no additional costs or complexity.
- Strong security: OCVS provides built-in security features, such as microsegmentation, encryption at rest and in transit, and security groups, to help customers secure their
- Low latency: OCVS offers low-latency access to Oracle Cloud services, such as Autonomous Database and Object Storage, to enable customers to build modern, cloud-native
- Cost-effective: OCVS offers a pay-as-you-go pricing model, so customers only pay for the resources they use, with no upfront costs or long-term commitments.
Overall, Oracle Cloud VMware Solution (OCVS) is an ideal solution for customers looking to move their VMware-based workloads to the cloud with minimal changes and maximum benefits, it allows customers to run their VMware workloads in a fully-managed cloud environment with minimal changes to their existing tools, processes, and workflows. And it provides a range of benefits such as high availability, disaster recovery, flexible scaling, strong security, low latency, and cost-effective
